It contains one full length practice test with explanations. While certain practice test sections are well-written, some test-takers have complained that other sections, such as the subtest 2 math and science are a bit repetitive and not always representative of the kind of questions which appear on the exam. Nonetheless, this is still a good CSET study guide overall. It is available at most major retailers and online.
Beating the CSET – This CSET study guide is written by a number of authors and is about 560 pages in length. It contains no practice tests, but does have more subject matter info than many competing CSET study guides. Some test-takes have complained that there are a few content errors in this CSET study guide though. Those errors may have been corrected in subsequent editions, but it is something to be careful about. Beating the CSET is available online and at most major retailers.
CSET Study Guide with CD-Rom – This CSET study guide is written by six California-based teaching specialists and includes subject matter reviews and test-taking strategies. It also comes with a CD-Rom which includes two interactive CSET practice tests that you can use to help evaluate yourself. It is available at most major bookstores and online retailers.
Orange County Department of Education CSET Study Guides – The OCDE has study guides for sale which give very thorough subject matter info and can be a useful preparation tool. These guides are not available in stores and must be purchased through the mail using an order form.
